Born 1960. Studies of communications & psychology at the University of Vienna and of political sciences at the Ohio University in Athens/Ohio/USA. Graduation at the University of Vienna: Doctor of Philosophy in 1985. 1985-1988 Research Associate on "media impact on cognitions" at the Institute for Communications and Political Science at the University of Nuernberg/Germany and other freelance media impact research projects. 1989-2006: Senior Researcher at the Institute of Technology Assessment at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and development in the research field Health Technology Assessment in Austria. Director of Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for HTA since April 2006. In 2009 habilitation/postdoctoral lecture qualification in social medicine (Medical University Graz) on the topic of "resource allocation in health-care systems".
